Fixed losing ability to control battles because the game failed to sign in to GOG
UI
PC players can now select a touch-friendly interface under Options > Video > UI Mode > Touch
The Touch interface provides larger controls and touch-friendly layouts across the main menu, adventure map, battles, campaigns and game setup
Touchscreen controls support direct tapping, dragging and pinch-to-zoom. Mouse controls act as touch input, with click-and-drag for panning and the mouse wheel for battle zoom
Many actions use a two-step input: the first tap or click selects and displays information, while the second confirms movement, attacks, spells, abilities or menu choices
Online multiplayer, community maps and the Map Editor are not available while using the Touch interface. Switching UI Mode returns to the main menu, so save any game in progress first
Auto-equipping the best artifacts from the inventory now also sorts the backpack by artifact power
Camera zoom level is now remembered when returning from a battle
Info Mode has been reworked to make explored maps easier to read. Important locations retain their names, less important objects use compact markers, completed interactions are visually de-emphasized and custom map names are respected
Fixed artifact market sell value not being shown on tooltips of set artifacts
Removed false interaction instructions on tooltips for buildings belonging to a town that you are occupying
Make "Are you sure you want to quit to main menu?" question in “player disconnected popup” actually care about the player's response
Multiplayer
Spectators can now send chat messages
Fixed case where battle spectator is left in battle scene after setting disconnected team to AI control
Upgraded the game’s online technology and optimized how game data is transferred between players
Reduced network traffic and improved compression for large game-state transfers, particularly while joining and synchronizing an online game
Improved host migration reliability, including selection of a new host when players on different platforms are present
Improved disconnect handling during loading screens and when leaving battles
Fixed selecting “No” when asked to leave an online game still returning the player to the main menu
Fixed the lobby becoming unresponsive after opening the mod browser
Fixed rare issue where a team could wrongfully have their turn ended before it even begins when playing hotseat
Map Changes
Fixed duplicate Lady Hammonds showing up on second map of Mehry’s tale
Fixed a trigger-flow softlock in Yulan map 2
Fixed Yulan map 3 sometimes showing Meilin’s Flora victory text after the R’lac battle
Added a Vault of the Old Empire to Rana map 4
Corrected portrait directions throughout the Barya campaign
Fixed camera issues and incorrect intro dialogue portraits in Mehry’s Tale
AI - Adventure
Prevent AI wielders from making suicidal attacks against wielders standing on town wall gates because it didn’t take garrison troops into account when determining threat level
Fixed issue where AI could look at wrong amount in its “wallet” when determining its need for a resource
Misc improvements in AI recruitment so it makes better use of troop dwellings, available troop slots and resources
Fixed issue where AI would unnecessarily disband existing troops when purchasing troops from a neutral troop dwelling
Fixed issue where AI would try to transfer troops to wielder that could not accept them due to their (previously) buffed max size
Improved AI movement, route selection, threat evaluation and use of teleporters when escaping danger
Fixed issues where AI could end up with the wrong cost for future building upgrades, messing with its budgeting
Fixed several edge cases that could stall AI turns, particularly around repairing or pillaging troop dwellings and handling defeated Wielders
Performance, loading and memory
Improved frame pacing and camera movement on the adventure map, especially on large or heavily explored maps
Reduced hitches during minimap redraws, fog-of-war updates, map-object visibility changes and Info Mode toggling
Reduced stalls and memory allocations during AI turns and pathfinding, with the largest benefits expected on bigger maps and later rounds
Reduced recurring memory allocations and unnecessary hidden updates in the battle interface
Improved loading when entering adventure maps and battles, with more responsive loading screens and fewer stalls immediately after a map appears
Reduced loading overhead in single-player and hotseat games
Reduced startup memory by delaying battle visuals, menus, portraits and other content until they are actually needed
Adventure menus such as towns, troop dwellings, markets, rallies and trading are now loaded when first opened rather than all being created when the map loads
Desktop and Touch interface assets are kept separate so the game does not load both versions of large menus at the same time
Reworked audio loading so menus, adventure maps and battles only keep the sounds and faction audio needed for the current context
Reduced memory use on large maps by removing duplicated map data and releasing temporary loading data when it is no longer needed
Fixed several cases where generated terrain, grid and path geometry, minimap textures, outlines and temporary materials could remain in memory after use
The game can now release hidden menus, pooled objects and map geometry when the operating system reports memory pressure
Reduced memory spikes when overwriting a save by loading only the information needed for its preview rather than a second complete game state
Low and Lowest graphics quality now use smaller font atlases to reduce memory use, while higher settings retain the full-resolution fonts
Lowest graphics quality no longer loads or plays ambient map audio, further reducing its memory requirement. Other quality settings are unchanged
Fixed a crash when using the Lowest graphics-quality setting with certain colour-tinted map objects
Improved the appearance of see-through effects on the Lowest graphics-quality setting
Video render scale now snaps to clear 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% choices
Fixed crashes that could occur when returning to the main menu from memory-heavy battles, the Map Editor or the Mods menu
Fixed campaign cutscenes sometimes crashing when skipped, exited or replayed
Fixed objective popups sometimes freezing when they appeared while the adventure interface was hidden
Fixed rapid or overlapping menu inputs occasionally dropping a scene change or starting two local games at once
Misc
Fixed Tian Necklace trinket artifact only giving Chaos and not Order essence income
Fixed Mian headpiece artifact not giving its Initiative bonus
Random map generation now includes validation step that should ensure that all player starting positions are reachable in the final map (will make five attempts at generating before failure)
If enabling Beacons of Power when creating a random map but then disabling them as a victory condition in lobby it is now possible to play with beacons that allow teleportation but not victory
Various additional performance, stability and compatibility improvements
